Our favorite cafes in Kreuzberg and Neukölln.

You just settled in Berlin and feel it: You have to head outside, discover the city and find your new favorite places. Of course among nightclubs and bookstores you also need a great place to meet friends, get some work done, read a book or simply satisfy your caffeine addiction - What else would be better than the good old neighborhood cafes?

Berlin has a lot of them: modern, cozy, big and small, with Wi-Fi, and without Wi-Fi… Yes, you have read that right: some cafes have a no-laptop policy. Here in Berlin, we like socializing, and that wouldn’t be possible if you are starring into your screen all day, right? Anyways, having the choice is always nice, so here is a list of some of my favorite chill and work cafes in Kreuzberg and Neukölln. Hopefully you will find your next hangout spot among them.

Okay Café

Sleek design with a Scandinavian touch; this café really has a friendly atmosphere. Foodwise, it does not only offer pastries, but also a nice menu with fresh and tasty food. Don’t miss the brunch menu on the weekend! Just google the word “fika” and you’ll quickly understand what this beautiful place is all about!

Cuccuma

This place feels like going home to your grandmother, but meeting a rather young crowd in her living room. Enjoy one of their cakes on the second floor seating lounge and mingle with the other people there. If you are anyway visiting the Bergmannkiez, why not pop into this little treasure.

Two and Two

Mix French with Japanese and the result is a cafe like this. With its chilled vibes Two and Two is the perfect place to work for a couple of hours. It reflects the perfect work-life balance that Berlin offers. Don’t forget to try something from their massive collection of pastries! Yummy.

  • If you like: Small and cozy places

Bonanza Roastery Cafe

Pushing the heavy door, you enter this elegant and spacious cafe. The room is split in two: A vintage roastery on one side, and the actual café on the other. Unluckily but understandably, you can’t enter the roastery, but you can observe it through the separation wall while enjoying your cup of coffee. This place is all about excellent, full bodied coffees and quality. If you are into, check it out. Beware, it’s a bit harder to find than the other places.

  • Location: Adalbertstraße 70
  • Wifi: Yes
  • Closest station: Kottbusser Tor

Hallesches Haus

If you are more the hip kind of person, then this is the place to be. You enter through a little design store where you can find various products from known and unknown brands. If you are here to work, you can sit in the designated laptop area but beware it might be a little bit loud, especially during lunch time!
